Reading Intervention
Sometimes learning to read is a struggle. We understand it can be a challenge and how to adjust learning to fit your child. We can't wait to help your child find success in learning to read!
Reading is the gateway skill that makes all other learning possible. ~Barack Obama
Using the Orton-Gillingham methods and theory, Jessie works one-on-one with students struggling with reading.
Working with the knowledge that building student-teacher relationships are key, we prefer sessions to be in-person at our Edina location.
To bring the reading, writing, and spelling skills of a child with who struggles or is identified with dyslexia up to grade level, you need these 5 things:
1. The right system
We use the Orton-Gillingham -based Imagine Sonday System
2. The right tutor or teacher
Someone who is well trained see resume and background here
3. The right intensity level
At least twice a week, for a 45 minutes
4. The right setting
One-on-one tutoring is best
5. For the right duration
Until the student's skills are at or beyond grade level
In-person Evaluations and "Find a Good Fit" meetings will be done at your home, or online, free of charge.
Our sessions cost $70 each and run 45-50 minutes long.
All materials are provided and at-home learning is encouraged.
Looking for online learning?
The online process involves zoom and sharing of the screen and mouse to complete activities with the help of technology. Relationships will be built and fun will occur with plenty of one-on-one face time, even through a screen. The only requirements for online work are internet capability and a laptop, desktop or chromebook that accepts app downloads (not a school device). The gift of technology also allows students outside of our home area of the Twin Cities to participate in reading intervention, too.
